robert f. tuttle architects, inc.
RFTA was founded in 1990 by Robert F. Tuttle, in Irvine, CA. During the 90’s we designed many hotels, LDS church projects, and affordable housing projects in Los Angeles, the most notable being the 9th and Grand project next to the Federal Reserve building on Grand Avenue. The ongoing work with affordable housing, hotels, churches, and residential continues to this day.  We continue to seek to match our client’s needs with the quality, design, and innovation that have brought us success through today. A new direction in uniting the design and construction process into a seamless process where the quality, quantity, and end product is delivered by the design team has developed into another company, Grid Structures, Inc. (GSI). This building process is new and innovative, resulting in maximum efficiency of building materials and time. The first residence was completed as a test and trial (believe me, it was both of those!) in March 2010. Other projects are on the board to refine the process. Click the button to view the process!
Our mission is to serve our clients. We accomplish this by doing three things:
  1. Solve design problems. Developing harmonious solution that brings together the building expression as related to the immediate neighborhood and environment with a practical design solution.
  2. Communicate effectively. All projects are different and as such, we keep all members of the team informed at each step of the process, and work together as a team to arrive at solutions that actually work.
  3. Leadership. Providing outstanding design, technical solutions, and close financial analysis and scheduling.
By following this process, we turn over a completed project with quality assurance and specification compliance.
